The weather could not have been better. A carpet of green grass, the blue sky's and white clouds combined to make great views over the Kern river canyon. We had 36 people on this trip. There were many first time fossil hunters, and about a dozen returning collectors.  Also, as a guest on this trip was Michael Hutchins, Executive Director of the Wildlife Society, and an avid fossil collector.

The majority of the fossils were taken around the orange band of sediment running about 6 feet below the soil line. This is all part of the Miocene era and included a number teeth of maco shark, a cow shark, porpoise, sting ray and a few yet to be Identified. Also, collected were a number of fossil bones including what appears to be large whale rib bones. Hopefully, we can get more pictures to share from some of the other treasure collectors.
